Finding niche content the FOSS way
2 minutes read •
You stumbled across my random blog. You probably have very unique interests and it’s a shitshow sifting through the interwebs for like-minded people. Thanks to SEO tactics, commercial search engines incentivize structure, etc, you just gotta get in where you fit in. Or at least I thought I did until I stumbled across this gem.
Search My Site has made the journey for new, interesting content much easier. It’s exclusively content made by other bloggers. Not AI, not corporations, not websites tricking you into clicks. Here’s a breakdown from their site:
The search engine is a niche search, focusing on the “indieweb” or “small web” or “digital gardens”, i.e. non-commercial content, primarily personal and independent websites.
I’m into self-hosting right now and have already stumbled across so many high quality blogs thanks to the site. It’s to the point that I had to give it a breather until I catch up on the sizeable backlog in my RSS feed.
For example you if you are interested in local blogs ie: Chicago or stumble across conversations on a show you watched like Paradise. They also have a list of available blogs to search, as well as the most recent blog posts.
