Switching my Jellyfin desktop client
1 minute read •
I have been using Feishin for ~2 years now. It is still finicky in a few areas such as keyboard navigation and getting keyboard shortcuts to stick.
Came to the realization that I'd probably be better suited w/ a TUI. Did a search on Github and came across Jellyfin-TUI.
Pros
- Easier navigation
- Minimalist vibes which I prefer
- Find that it picks up where I left off on a playlist better
- Encouraged me to use a feature-rich multiplexer again (more on that in a future post)
Cons
- Have to dedicated a terminal tab/panel/window to it
- Doesn't have a visualizer to be mesmerized by when I'm high and listening to music
- Have to learn new shortcut keys
Overall, I'm glad I made the switch since playlist resumption after sleep/hibernate is my ideal feature.
